Early Life and Football Career
Talanoa Hufanga, born on February 15, 1999, in Corvallis, Oregon, is an American football safety for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at USC and was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
College Career
Hufanga played safety for the USC Trojans from 2018 to 2020. As a sophomore in 2019, he earned All-American honors and was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. He finished his college career with 206 tackles, 10 interceptions, and six forced fumbles.
Professional Career
The 49ers selected Hufanga with the 171st overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He quickly made an impact as a rookie, starting 13 games and recording 74 tackles, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. In 2022, he started all 17 games and finished with 113 tackles, four interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
